History Biographical

The Mudlark Writers Collective was formed in the 1990s by a group of University of Lethbridge Alumni with the help of Dr. Martin Oordt, a former professor at the university. In 2000 the group published its first magazine titled “Rags” which they continued to publish yearly between 2001 and 2009. The title "Rags" is a reference to the cover of the first volume, which was made from denim scraps and rejection notices. The magazines contain previously unpublished works--poems and short stories--from Albertan authors and authors who consider Alberta their home, regardless of where they were living. Materials were donated by Leslie Little, an author who was featured in several volumes of Rags and managed the Mudlark Publications.
