History Biographical
Irene Tomeco Okamoto was born in Victoria, British Columbia on December 10, 1929 to Shinkichi & Misu Okamoto, she was the youngest of 9 children. Irene and her family were relocated through the Hastings Park Manning Pool relocation center in April 1942, her father and the women to Taber, her brothers to Ontario. In 1949 her family constructed a home in Taber. Irene went on to graduate from The Galt School of Nursing in 1953 and returned to Taber to work in her new profession. (source: 2003.1059/159)
