Scope and Content
"AG Impact" television special, educational program about the farming and ranching industry in southern Alberta. Ian McDonald reports on the agriculture industry in southern Alberta and how it impacts Lethbridge. Farmer, George Templeton and his sons discuss their farming operation around Coaldale. Business owners, Leona King, owner of Macabee's Bookstore, and Gordon Grimes, Manager of Sears, discusses how their businesses rely on the local agriculture industry. Ron Fleming, Produce Manager at Safeway, discusses the reciprocal relationship between local farmers and ranchers and Safeway. The store buys the local farmers and ranchers products to sell, and in turn the farmers and ranchers buy the food they need from Safeway. Garnet Altwasser, President of the Lakeside Packers, discusses the meat packing industry in southern Alberta, and their impact on the economy and job creation. Tom Droog, owner of Alberta Sunflower Seeds discusses how his business has grown and the changes in production of sunflower seeds. Wayne Lindwall, Acting Director of the Agriculture Research Centre, discusses their programs, including crop breeding and beef nutrition, and their work with the local agriculture industry.
