- History Biographical
- Dr. William H. Sharp was a Biology professor at the University of Lethbridge for 32 years and a former president of the Lethbridge Naturalists’ Society. As a member of the Society, Dr. Sharp worked to record the songs of meadowlarks around the city. He was active in the Alberta Bird Atlas Project, identifying and documenting bird species in Alberta. He received his degrees in Biology and Zoology. His interest in plant species and identification began with a course taught by E. H. Moss, author of the Flora of Alberta. He began photographing and cataloguing landscapes, plants, and animal species in the late 1950s. After his retirement from the teaching at the University of Lethbridge in 1994, he continued his passion for photographing and cataloguing biological species and landscapes across Southern Alberta. Dr. Sharp’s photographs and academic work have been published in a variety of academic reports and journals, including Alberta Views.
