- City bus driver Gordon Miller pulled up to the Civic Sports Centre to pick up a passenger but when he opened the door F. G. (Sandy) Sandercock, president of the Chinook Pensioners and Senior Citizens Organization shoved a .22 caliber rifle at him and ordered him off the bus. Passengers seated on the bus were amazed. Mr. Miller was escorted into the Civic Sports Centre where the organization presented him with a silver tray for his alertness. A few week previous one of the group’s members, Mrs. Agnes Dewar, suffered a heart attack on the bus and Mr. Miller drove her directly to Lethbridge Municipal Hospital. His action helped save her life, according to the attending doctor.
