- Western Truck Body Manufacturing which opened in Lethbridge’s industrial park. Initially the firm employed 16 men full time making industrial truck and tractor cabs, vans, service bodies, custom truck bodies, gas tanks, bumpers, took boxes and related repair work. Ed Filan, left, manager of the plant and his, shop foreman, inspect a cab built in the plant for Foremost Track Vehicles of Calgary. The cabin, when installed on a track vehicle, was one of several to be exported to Russia. The federal government’s $57,000 incentive grant was partially responsible for the new plant being located in Lethbridge.
