History Biographical: The Lethbridge PROBUS Club was established in 1997, with its formative meeting taking place in September and its first official meeting taking place October 23, 1997 at Ericksen’s Restaurant. The Rotary Clubs of Lethbridge helped to establish the club and sent the initial invitations to retired or semi-retired individuals in Lethbridge. A PROBUS (an abbreviation of PROfessional and BUSiness) club is meant for retired and semi-retired individuals who have had “some measure of responsibility in any field of endeavor”. Meetings are meant to be held monthly and regular outings are planned, with the goal of bringing retired people together to socialize. The Club has invited multiple speakers from around the area for educational opportunities. Speakers have included Belinda Crowson, from the Galt Museum & Archives in 2014 who spoke on local Lethbridge history, and retired Lethbridge City Police Chief, John Middleton-Hope, who spoke on his work as an international consultant in 2013.
