- RCMP aircraft highway patrols in southern Alberta were implemented to function at Peak efficiency. The components were a single engine airplane, a pilot, an observer, a two way raid and pursuit vehicle on the ground.A clip-board, stop watch and time charge were used by an airborne RCMP observer over an aircraft-patrolled zone were all that was needed to check the speed of randomly-chosen drivers. When a car was noted speeding, the observer radioed the traffic interceptor vehicle. Identification was confirmed when the suspect’s car was stopped.
