Scope and Content
The Art Studio on Fifth Avenue, 710 5th Avenue S. where some 80 pieces of art by Brent R. Laycock were on display. It was said to be the finest exhibitions by a local artist in many years. The exhibition was notable for its variety of techniques. Laycock was in his final year of a fine arts program at Brigham Young University. He used a dozen different approaches, including acrylics, embossing silkscreen, ink drawing, water color and lithograph. The exhibition was noticeably influenced by the artist’s long-time residence in southern Alberta: grain elevators, old farm buildings and other evidence of a familiarity with the district. This was Laycock’s second one-man show at the studio where the response from the buying public had been good.
