- Les Handley, a Lethbridge auctioneer and southwestern director for the Auctioneers’ Association for the Mentally Retarded, presents a cheque for $3,100 to Joyce Dunlop, president of the Lethbridge Association for the Mentally Retarded. In the previous four years, the Alberta Auctioneers, 400 strong, donated $140,000 to organizations for the mentally retarded. The money from the 1971 donation was to be used for the Sunrise Ranch, residences, pre-school program and recreational activities.
