- The photograph was collected by Alex Johnston to use in "Lethbridge: Its Coal Industry" by Johnston, Gladwyn and Ellis. 1989. Copyright: Glenbow Archives, Calgary. John Stoughton Dennis was in charge of the Dominion Government Surveys before becoming a surveyor for The Hudson's Bay Company. He was later placed in charge of the Canadian Pacifac Railway Colonization and Land Settlement Department. J. S. Dennis surveyed areas of Southern Alberta and a few of his maps are located in the Sir Alexander Galt Archives.
