- Excavation for new rink at Henderson began in late July was to be ready for use that fall. The new rink had to have a total area of almost 29,000 square feet. The main structure was to be 205 feet by 112 feet. The dressing room was 105 feet by 44 feet and an equipment wing was 48 by 28 feet. The building was made o precast concrete, insulated and finished on the inside with prefinished steel siding. Cost of the facility was $517,000. It was to be used for junior hockey until a major arena could be built.
