- History Biographical
- Elias John Holberton was born December 8, 1892 at Plymouth, England. He emigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s and was employed in the construction industry in Lethbridge. On August 17, 1914 he enlisted with the Royal North West Mounted Police and served in Regina, Whitehorse, and Dawson City. His regiment number was 5874. He enlisted with the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment on May 23, 1917 serving overseas in Britain and France. His regimental number was 2293511. He discharged June 2, 1919 and returned to Lethbridge to take up farming. He later joined the Lethbridge City Police and in later years was employed by the city Parks Department. He married Annie Elizabeth Dunk at St Cyprians Church, Lethbridge on June 26, 1919. He died in Lethbridge December 21, 1965 and is interred in the Field of Honor, Mountain View Cemetery.
