Donor obtained this photograph from Alfred William Shackleford, Lethbridge. The cherry tree was winter killed the first cold season.

Bill Hope (holding small tree) and Mayor A. W. Shackleford (with shovel) planting a cherry tree that had been received from Japan. Behind Shackleford's left elbow is Reverend Nelson Mercer of Southminster Church. Charlie Parry is 9th from the right, looking over the shoulder of a tall man in a black coat. Magistrate Gore-Hickman is 2nd from the left in front.
