Rattray, Dorothy (Nee Mcintyre) And Thomas James M.

Dorothy Rattray Is The Daughter Of Hector And Mary Elizabeth Mcintyre, Who Lived And Farmed In The Barons District From 1914 To 1949. Mrs Rattray Has A Sister, Flora, And Two Brothers, Hector (Deceased) And Austin.

On 16 June 1943 Dorothy Rattray Joined The Canadian Women's Army Corps, And Was Stationed At Currie Barracks In Calgary. There She Met Thomas Rattray, A Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant Major. They Were Married 3 June 1947, And Subsequently Lived In Wetaskiwin, Creston British ColumbiaAnd Lethbridge.

Thomas Rattray Made His Career In The Army. He Joined The Central Alberta Horse In 1913, And Served With Them Until 1915 When He Enlisted In The 10th Battalion Of The Canadian Expeditionary Force. Wounded At The Battle Of Passchendaele On 11 November 1917, Rattray Was Sent Back To Canada After Nine Months In An English Hospital.

In 1920 Rattray Jointed The 2nd Northern Alberta Battalion, And Served With The Unit Until 1925, When Business Sent Him To The The Northwest Territories For Five Years. Sergeant Major Rattray Returned To Alberta In 1930 And Joined The Edmonton Fusiliers, His Unit Until 1939 When He Transferred To The Edmonton Regiment. This Unit Was Rattray's For The Duration Of WW2. In 194 Mr. Rattray Moved Back To His Hometown Of Wetaskiwin, Where He Was Caretaker Of The Drill Hall And A Member Of The 19th Alberta Dragoons.

Retired From The Army On 17 January 1958 After 39 Years Of Service, Rattray Resided With His Wife In Wetaskiwin, Creston British ColumbiaAnd Lethbridge. He Died In Lethbridge On 15 September 1983 At Age 87. Sergeant Major Rattray Is Buried In The Field Of Honour, Mountain View Cemetery.
