- Plans for a $1.5 million apartment block development immediately east of the College Shopping Mall were announced by Gordon Schwartz, director of Schwartz Agencies Ltd. The first phase, a 46 suite, eight storey high rise, was estimated to cost $600,000 and be ready by late spring or early summer, 1971. The two four-storey blocks on either side were to be started at that time and finished by the end of 1971. Manhattan Land Securities Ltd., an affiliate of Schwartz Agencies, let the contract to Smith Bros. and Wilson Ltd. The development was to include putting greens, sauna rooms, swimming pool, fountains and private grounds.
