- Commercial fisherman George Royer of Arrowwood, Alberta proudly holds a 44-inch, 25-pound pike he took out of Chin Lake. In a number of years of commercial fishing, this was the biggest fish Royer caught to that date. The world record for pike was 46 pounds. Large pike were caught in the south’s irrigation water impoundments including on that was almost 40 pounds, out of Lake Newell near Brooks. Two 35 pounders came out of the St. Mary Reservoir.
