- Mrs. Nellie Attridge, 84, of Lethbridge holds one of a number of three-pound potatoes she grew in her garden in the summer of 1970. A hobby gardener for a number of years, this was the first time she had grown giant spuds. The seeds wer sent to her by her son Charles in Saskatchewan who was also said to have been surprised by their size. She had almost 500 pounds of potatoes—just enough for the winter.
