History Biographical

Arthur "Pop" Harwood came to Waterton Lakes National Park circa 1914 where he was employed in a variety of jobs before becoming the postmaster, a position he held until the 1950s. He had one son, Stephen, who was an avid photographer and outdoorsman who became a mechanic with the park, married and raised one son, Marvin. See fond description for more detail.

Scope and Content

View of Linnet Lake, a popular swimming lake in Waterton Lakes National Park. The photo shows two bath houses (dressing room houses). On the left is the ladies bath house and on the right one for the men. The bath houses were removed in 1960 when an Olympic-sized swimming pool was built in the centre of the town, since removed.

Photo taken by Walter Foster using a large format camera. Foster was a long-time and close friend of the Harwood family.
