History Biographical
The first three spans of the bridge, as seen here, were laid in place by a small erector, then the "travelling erector" was built on them. The erector took a month to build and cost $100,000. The wooden scaffolding visible at the start of the bridge was left in place and later filled in with soil and ash. It is supposedly still in place today.
