- Portrait of John Henry Cavanah. Mr. Cavanah operated a general store in Medicine Hat in 1883. He moved to Lethbridge in 1885 and opened his Maple Leaf Store on 5th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. In 1891 he increasede the inventory to include dry goods, clothings and groceries. He closed his store in 1894. John was a member of the Board of Trade and elected to town council in 1891.He was a member of the Pemmican Club and St. Augustine’s Church.He died in 1904.
