- Portrait of Charles. A Magrath born 1860 and died in 1943. His first wife Margaret died on June 15th 1892 and he later married Mabel Lillian Galt, the daughter of Sir Alexander Galt. Charles was a big participant in surveying the Northwest Territories. He was the first mayor of Lethbridge in 1891, and represented the district in the House of Commons in Ottawa. He became responsible for the building of the irrigation cannels in South Lethbridge encouraging several groups including the Mormons to immigrate to Lethbridge. He also did early surveys for the Lethbridge town site.
