- Portrait of Edward Mackenzie born in 1804 in Nova Scotia. In 1884 he left home looking for work and eventually obtained work with the Northwest Coal and Navigation Company. In 1887 he began a dairy farm on what is now present day Hardiville, he continued farming in several other places around the city eventually becoming very proficient in irrigation. He married Miss Elizabeth Munro in June 1888. They had 3 sons Leonard, Wilber and Gordon and one daughter May (Mrs. Thompson).
