Portrait of Job Reed who was born November 12th 1841 in England and died April 25th 1906. He married Mary Elizabeth Hobbs on May 30th 1869. They both worked as teachers and traveled around the United States. They came to Canada in 1882 intrigued by a new farming life. In 1883 they first came west and settled in Swift Current. They came to Lethbridge in 1886 and purchased land on 6th Ave A south. While in Lethbridge he worked in the coal mines and railway however he still was active on the school board. They had 8 children: Richard William Reed born 1870, Charles Henry Reed born 1872, Mary Elizabeth Farthing Reed born 1876, Job Reed born 1878, George William Hobbs Reed 1882, Wilfred Cornelius Reed born 1885, Hannah Maria Reed Born 1886 and Ellen Georgina Reed born 1889.
