Scope and Content

Portrait of Dr. Walter Stuart Galbraith who was born August 1st 1866. Arrived in Lethbridge in 1896 to practice medicine until 1939 with the Mewburn & Galbraith firm. He also served as mayor in 1907 and an alderman from 1928 to 1932. He was Senator of the University of Alberta until 1921, president of the Alberta Medical Association, President of the council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta in 1917, North Star Lodge Oldtimers’ Assocaiation and Settler Medical Center. He married Matilda Gallinger in 1801. They had three children Ruth Eleanor, Francis O, and Jean Alexander.
