- Portrait of Charles Broughton Bowman who was born in Windsor Nova Scotia on August 14th 1867. He came to Lethbridge in August 1889 to work at the Bentley company. He married Miss Florence Miller on June 13th 1899. They had three children Catherine May, Gwendoline Marguerite and Ronald Fraser Partick. In 1891 he became involved in the insurance and real estate business. This also led him to be very active in municipal affairs from 1897 to 1907 serving as secretary- treasurer for the Lethbridge School District, Lethbridge Board of Trade, Secretary at the Lethbridge Agricultural Society, Galt Hospital Secretary, city assessor, alderman and acting mayor however he lost the election for the official position. In 1907 he resigned from civic duties and moved his real estate office from city hall to Higinbotham Block at the corner of 5th Street and 2nd Avenue.The Bowman School on 5th Avenue and 9th Street was named after him..
