- Portrait of Manfred Freeman. In 1906 he purchased the second vehicle in Lethbridge. He was second assistant to William Henderson in the volunteer fire brigade. He owed the businesses Sherlock Freeman and Company, and Freeman & Company General Store. In 1915 he was the city commissioner. As such he was in charge of a ship called the Eradicator (HMS Freeman) that was designed to cut and rid the city lakes of the weeds. However once cut they would drift to other places in the lake, grow roots and spread even more.
