- Portrait of Amos Brown Pipes.Amos left Nova Scotia in 1885 to come to Lethbridge and stayed with his cousins the Lowthers. During this time he built a home on 414 5th Avenue South. Later he went back to Nova Scotia to court Hanna Wood Harrison. Together they were members of the first Baptist Church of which he helped build. He also establish the Alberta First Indian reservation at Standoff. During this time he made friends with the First Nations and they would often sleep in his warm home. He died in 1942.
