- Portrait of Mr.Albert James Whitney who was born August 10th and died October 2nd 1938.He arrived in Coalbanks in 1883 and walked the 35 miles to Fort MacLeod He worked with his brother William (Curly) at a ranch on Daly Creek then at Whitney and Daly’s sawmill in the Porcupine Hills. He was able to buy his own horses and went into the freighting business that included putting up hay for the North West Mounted Police. H eestablished his own ranch at Kipp in 1883 where he lived until his death. He was married but had no children.
