- The Chapman family resided in Lethbridge from 1958 to 1963. The Chapmans moved to Lethbridge from Lacombe, AB, after S. M. Chapman’s accepted the position of administrator of the Galt Rehabilitation Centre, located at old Galt Hospital. While in Lethbridge, Stewart Chapman was active in supporting scouting on the council for the Southern Alberta Region; he was involved in the Lions Club as he had been in Lacombe. He was involved in community Little Theater, and along with his wife were among the founding members of McKillop United Church. The Chapman family had five children, two boys and three girls. Don Chapman attended various schools in Lethbridge, including the LCI. He was in grade 11 when the family moved to Langley. He eventually returned to Alberta pursing his Master and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Alberta. While in Lethbridge, Don Chapman was a Scount and attained Queen's Scout status in Alberta, and was included in the investiture program in Alberta for that year. The scout shirt with all the regalia is mostly from awards during the Alberta period. In 1963, Don was participated in the Adventure Trip to New Mexico in 1963, one of two scouts from Lethbridge. In 1963, the family moved departed to Langley, British Columbia, where S.M. Chapman took over as the Administrator of the Langley Memorial Hospital where he worked until his retirement.
