Photographs: Family home of Siegfried and Anne Maywald, 1947. Copy of original. Group photograph of attendees at a Christmas party in Riverside Hall. 1940s. Names of people in the photograph (in no particular order): Brandle, Tenant, Bowman, Kilsza, Hellmer, Cockeral, Gillet, Brown, Bowman, 3 Gorda families, Bardini, Myhers, Delmark, Bodell, Travalia, Heggedal, Conine, Nelson, Basinoleto, Petruska, Walker, Middlton, Arkinstall, Robertson, Hutsulak, Mathew, Myers, Boychuck, Nickols, Crouthers, Glover, Cool, Iverson, McCourthney, Peppers, Ell, Orich, Junz, Cunningham, Rollingson, Winters. Contextual information: From Mrs. Anne Maywald: “My first home in 1947. My shower was the first thing held there [Riverside Community Hall?] July 10, 1947; my wedding and dance on July 17, 1947. Salvation army leaders came down every Wednesday to have meetings with us in the afternoon. In the evening the neighbours got together for bridge and whist card games. My father-in-law and Mother-in-law lived there since after 1912 just about 50 feet from the river for years until the flood. The white house was built by my then to be husband in 1946. There were about 200 families live down there at the time. We all had gardens and chickens and all that was required. I walked up the hill to town. I worked at the Galt Hospital in 1945 and 1946 on special diets in the kitchen.”
