- Photographs of the demolition of the city’s bus barns which was done using a 7,000 pound super hard manganese steel wrecking ball. The Ed Bartell Construction company had difficulty breaking up the foundation of the old barns. The site was to be used for construction of an apartment block and the company encountered foundations that were two or three feet thick which had to be broken apart bit by bit. The concrete was some 60 years old. The force required to break it up was similar to a head-on collision between two large-model cars each travelling about 70 miles per hour.
