Scope and Content: Tape 2 Side A - The striking miners had problems with the RCMP. His father was arrested and jailed for 3 months. - During the strike local grocers Swedish, Pisko, and Vaselenak extended credit to the miners and their families. It was the difference between starvation and survival. Staffordville post office was run by Mr. Williamson and was located on 9th Ave and 9th Str N. - No. 3 had a wash house, but most of the miners would wash up at home. - Describes a miner's lunch pail and a typical lunch. - Mary Pinchak: employment history - housekeeper, macaroni factory, Batons. - The Zuback's celebrated their 55 wedding anniversary in Feb 1977. They don't regret the way their lives have turned out, but they would not want to live through the 1930s again. - Mary Pinchak: schooling - names teachers and speaks about student discipline. The Pinchak family consisted of 6 children (4 boys, 2 girls). - The Zuback's opinions regarding the treatment of senior citizens and the high standard of living they have achieved because of union and government pensions. - The Zuback's bought their first car in 1 952, but had an accident with it shortly after - never drove again. - In the earlier days, the women were the family money managers and the children worked to help support the family.
