Scope and Content: Tape 1 Side A - Henry was born in 1881 in the United States and came to Lethbridge around 1910. He was employed as a mechanic, a trade he got into by accident (he had a car no one could fix, so he borrowed space in a garage and fixed it himself. The garage kept him on as a mechanic). - Before arriving in Lethbridge, he contacted diphtheria in Montana. The town did not have a hospital so they put him in the jail. He believes whoever was tending him used a Listerene spray on his throat. He recovered in about 2 weeks. - Henry first retired at the age of 64 and went to live in the Porcupine Hills. He was only up there a few days when Johnson from Johnson Sawmills asked him to help them out. He ended up working there for 3 years. - He returned to Lethbridge after Johnson Sawmills, and Fleming Motors asked him to help them out. He worked there until he was 71. He worked with Pete Webber, who died recently at age 91 - John McD Davidson general information. - White Steamer automobile. Henry bought it from 2 men on the northside. - Henry still lives in his own house and cooks his own meals. SideB - Political views. - Henry did not attend school, but taught himself to read and write. - Henry was the first mechanic in Lethbridge. In 1912 they started to electrify cars. - His hobby is fishing, approx 10 min long.
