Tape 1 Side A (30 min) - She came to Le.thbridge as a young bride 1 July 1913. They were married in her home town of Bristol, Ontario and honeymooned in Rochester, New York. - General comments about Lethbridge in 1913. Their first home was on 7th Ave and 8th Street. - Family information. The Kress's did not have any children. - Alfred came to Lethbridge in 1909 from Kitchner, Ontario. He was employed as paymaster for the AR & I, then CPR. He retired in 1955 and passed away in March 1969. - Members of the Wesley Methodist Church. First church was on 3rd Ave and 8th Street S. Information about the congregation and ministers. Mrs. Kress was in charge of the primary. In March 1914 they moved into the new Wesley. Minister was Mr. Cobbledick. Information about the union of the Methodists and Presbyterians. - She was also a member of the choir, the Ladies Aid, and Missionary Society. The ladies catered functions and held bazaars to raise monty. - Southern Presbyterianinformation: members included Bow Island, New Dayton, Pincher Creek, etc. groups. They met once a month. - Names other members of the church. - During WWI she worked in the Red Cross rooms located in the Post Office building making bandaids from unbleached cotton. - Flu epidemic 1918 - Beds were set up in Southminster Hall. - Also a member of the Mathesis Club. Meetings were held in the YMCA. - She owns 4 Federick Cross paintings. Alfred and Cross worked together and after his death, Mrs Cross sold most of his paintings and moved to Victoria. SideB - Blank
