Tape 1 Side A - Blank Side B (30 min) - Biographical information: father - George Seaman came to Canada from Louisville, Kentucky in the late 1880's as a young boy with his parents. His father owned a tobacco shop. Mother - Janet Munroe came to Lethbridge in 1885 at the age of 5 with her parents from Springhill, N.S. Her father was a miner. Celestia was born in Lethbridge in 1901. - School days: attended kindergarten and Central. Names teachers and recalls student activities, especially skipping rope for the girls. At the age of 12 she quit school and went to work for Dr. & Mrs Levering. She was not there long before getting a job as the elevator operator in the Alexandra Hotel (worked there for 3 years). - Her uncle GS Munroe was killed in a railroad accident on the old St. Mary's line (reported in the index, 1910). - Relates a story about 3 men, customers of the hotel, who were caught robbing a train. - Frank E Duval was born in England and migrated to Regina (had an aunt and uncle living there) after WW1. He joined the RCMP, trained in Regina, was posted to Saskatoon, and eventually Lethbridge where he met Celestia. They courted for 6 months before marking in the Anglican Church. - RCMP wages were^GS/month plus rations. They lived in the Sherlock Block. - After a few months Frank quit the force and joined the CPR, where he remained until his retirement. - Duval's have 6 children: Roy, Jim, Bob, Doreen, Joan, Cindy. Doreen & Cindy are at the interview. - Entertainment: movies, Dumbbells. - One of the daughters reads the TS Fetterly Funeral Home invoice for George Seaman. He died Jan 1912 at the age of 38. Total burial costs were $247.00. Invoice gives a breakdown of costs The family also has the marriage certificate of George Seaman and Janet Munroe.
