- (interview was conducted at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Virgina and Alex Talbott, 720 12th Street South, Lethbridge). Tape 1 Side A (approx 30 min) - Biographical information: Born 14 August 1877 in Missouri. He graduated in 1899 with a BA from the Central Methodist College in Missouri. Moved to Butte, Montana in 1900 and then to Big Timber. There he was married to Maureen Walker, also from Missouri, in 1902. They arrived in Lethbridge in 1905. - Decribes the events leading up to their move to southern Alberta. - First residence was a rented house on 5th Street South. - Virgina was very ill when the family arrived. Information about the early doctors. - CA Magrath was very helpful. General information about him. - General description of early Lethbridge: buildings, businesses, recreation. - Information about some of the early residents of Lethbridge: Ingrams, Donald Duff and his sister Mrs. Starnes, Pipes, Frayn's (carpenter), Evans. - In 1907 they built a house on 12th Street S. In 1909 they started building the big farm house (located onJailRoad, across from Provincial jail) and in August 1910 the family moved into it. Daniel's purchased their first car in 1907 - a 2 cylinder chain driven. - Electrification: first supplied by the jail. - Modern conveniences in their house on the jail road: built in vacuum, water supply, generated power supply. - Story about Dr. William Fairfield. - Cold storage and the ice house. Making ice cream. - Organizations Mr. Daniel is a member of: Lethbridge Board of Trade (joined in 1906), Exhibition Board (first fair was held in 1912 following the completion of the buildings), Rotary Club O'oined in 1925 and seldomed missed a meeting. Served as president in 1930-31). - Members of the Wesley Methodist Church. - He was partnerSfWith his hired hand, in an airplane building venture. Describes the building of the 2 seater plane.
