- Tape 1 Side A - Address: 811 9th Ave South, Lethbridge. - Came to Canada in 1923 and moved to Turin in 1924. Information about the jobs he had. - Born in England in 1886. His family had a dairy, and after the death of his father in 1911 he had to quit school to work in it. He came to Canada to visit a cousin who was working for Roger's Ranch near Calgary, and never went back. - Information about how he acquired his farm in Turin. - He leased additional land until purchasing more in 1935. He moved his farm buildings to the other land. He moved to Lethbridge in 1947. - Ward was a cattle buyer/butcher by trade. He travelled around buying and butchering livestock, and reselling the dressed meat. - Bill Coultry worked for the coal mines before opening a butcher shop. - He mentions farmers and ranchers in southern Alberta that he butchered for. - Relates a story about Donald & Jessie (Nolan) Baldwin and Donald's brother Jim. Side B - Continue with Baldwin story. - He married Elsie Reiter in Spokane on 1 March 1938. They met in 1923 when she was employed by the Hudson's Bay in Lethbridge, but in 1924 she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she lived until 1931. When she return to Canada she moved to Turin, about one mile from Ward's. - Location of the Turin West School. - Information about Jim Baldwin: living in Whitehorse and owns a plumbing and hardware store. - Information about a revolver he owns. George Watson asks him to donate it to the Museum. - General reminiscening. - Advice to the younger generation.
