Side A - Biographical information: Father came in 1907 and the rest of the family followed in 1908. He is still living in the original family home on 6th Ave S near 10th Street. Mrs. Husband and Mrs Nora Mitchell are his sisters. His father and Uncle Joe were partners in Wellington Bros Painting. - Duke has 2 daughters: Peggy is living in Toronto and is a consultant with Air Canada; Betty is married to Mr. Hanson and is living in Claresholm. - Discusses school days in Lethbridge: names other school mates, teachers, relates stories - one in particular about him and Bill Pennyfeather stealing pigeons and selling them in Chinatown. - Comments on the RCMP prisoners wearing balls and chains while in the barracks yard. - Members of St. Cyprian's Church, and then St. Augustine's. - Duke apprenticed as a painter under his father. Compares prices charged then to the prices charged now, and discusses the different types of paint. - He was in the army cadets in school and a member of the bugle band. Recalls a few incidents. - Duke married Mary Martha Mullen, an Irish girl, employed at Van Haarlem Hospital.
