Scope and Content

Side A - Continuation of his first experience with enemy fire. - June 30 left Standarton going north. Battle of Belfast. - Camped in Crocodile Valley. Outpost guard duty. - Squadron came across a gold mine. A few of the soldiers mined it and got some gold from it which they brought home after the war. * - Captured Liminberg and then returned to Pretoria where they were issued fresh mounts. - In March 1901 Trooper John Stewart returned home. He reads a newspaper article which details a reception given in his honor upon his return, quotes his responding address Side B - Continuation of reading of newspaper article. - Care and use of military fire arms. - Detail at Standarton. - Colonel Sam Steele. - Returning to civilian life. Finished his dentistry study. Few Dentists in southern Alberta and Stewart travelled to the surrounding towns on a regular basis. - Return to Boer War. Stationed at Pretoria, moved to Johannesburg, then on to Bahsooly/ Speaks of General Boer and the^Bth Mounted Regiment. - Information about his commanding officers. - General comments about his experiences in the Boer War.
