Hobbs of the Lethbridge Research Station. The designs on the hive were experimental and had proven to a degree that bees prefer certain groups or patterns when choosing a home. The tray holders on the roof of the structure were for the incubation drawers from which the bees emerged at the beginning of the growing season.
