- Photographs of demolition of old bus barns used by Lethbridge Transit System. The site was to be redeveloped for an apartment block but a number of difficulties were encountered: thick foundations with concrete that had been in the earth for 60 years. But the force required to break it up (the impact of thes teel ball on the concrete) was similar to a head on collision between two large-model cars each travelling at about 70 miles per hour. Ed Bartell Construction’s employees had to use a 7,000 pound super hard manganese steel wrecking ball to get the job done.
