- Photograph of new look for CP Rail. The Multimark, unveiled by Canadian Pacific in July, 1968, was intended to be seen on all branches of the company following 1970. In January, 1970 a new color combination appeared on the cards in the Lethbridge rail yards. The Multimark was a program undertaken and developed by CP to give uniform identification to the corporation. With 80,000 freight cars, CP Rail was estimated to take as many as eight years to complete the changeover nationwide from the once familiar symbol of a beaver on a shield. The painting was only done when a box car came in for its normal repainting or overhaul. Coors for the various branches of CP were red for CP Rail, orange for CP Air, green for CP Shipping, blue for CP Transport, birght grey for CP Hotels and brown for CP Telecommunications. The coal unit trains running out of the Crowsnest area in 1970 were all new cars and had the Multimark.
