Mr. Ellis had recently died and left $170,000 to nine local charities and organizations, including $32,000 to the YMCA. The plqque read: “In Memoriam, George Ellis, long time friend and resident of the YMCA 1892-1968”. Attending the ceremony were Vaughan Hembroff, president of the YMCA board; Cleve Hill, presenting Canada Trust-Huron and Erie; Walter E. Huckvale, one of the executors of the Ellis estate.
