- Photographs of a shaggy dog named Wistful Willie who was just one of 20 dogs at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (the pound) located in the river bottom area near Indian Battle park. The dogs, picked up for being unlicensed or running at large, were sold if the owners did not claim them. Any dog with the exception of a purebred, was available from the pound for a cost of $5. SPCA officials suggested the dogs might make good Christmas gifts.
