- Photographs of Grade 7 students in the one-act play Sparkin’. Some 150 students from Wilson Junior High School participated in the evening of drama at the Yates Memorial Centre. The program played to a capacity audience at the 500 seat centre, included another one-act, Three’s A Crowd, and numbers of the 50 member school band, directed by Willie Mathis, and 70 member choir, directed by Barbara Walker and Verdell Puccini. Produced in place of the annual school variety night, the presentation also featured an art display in the centre’s foyer. Over-all director of the show was drama teacher David Lynagh, with other teachers helping with sets, costumes and backstage work. It was the first time a program at the Yates had emphasized dramatic productions.
