It was the only system of its kind in Alberta and was staffed 24 hours a day. The Alberta portion of the network was operated by Alberta Government Telephones for the Canadian Armed Forces. The official opening of the system was held in a closed meeting of AGT representatives, Mayor Andy Anderson, Lethbridge MLA Jack Landeryou and Lt.-Co.. Robert Keill, Canadian Armed Forces.
