The vehicle featured special equipment for transporting handicapped people. The bus, which cost an estimated $18,000, had a side-mounted electric hydraulic wheelchair lift, special mountings to secure wheel chairs while the bus was in motion and added headroom to facilitate moving about inside the bus. Mr. Jarvie, a veteran who was seriously injured in the Second World War becoming an amputee, was the founder and former head of J. A. Jarvie Sand and Gravel, Superior Masonry and Kenroy Crushing.
