Photograph of damage to the CPR Dayliner in a truck-train collision one mile east of Monarch October 16, 1969. The accident resulted in the death of two people, John Ponech, 61, of Lethbridge and 35-year old Ronald Christensen of Nobleford, a passenger in the truck. In hospital in satisfactory condition following the accident was Richard Mattock, 27, of Nobleford; trainman Jack Horn of Lethbridge and Mrs. Margaret O’Grady, 57, of Lethbridge who was a Dayliner passenger. Damage of the Dayliner was estimated at $100,000 and the truck, valued at $20,000 was destroyed. The semi-trailer loaded with 5,000 pounds of cultivator chisels was en route to the Noble Blade plant at Nobleford, returning from a trip to Colorado.
