- Photographs of interior of College Mall Cinema, a new 682 seat facility operated by Famous Players Canadian Corporation Ltd. and locally owned by Lethbridge Theatres Ltd.. The new theatre brought to five the number of movie houses and drive-ins in the city with total seating of about 3,000. The $200,000 plus structure featured dual controls in the projection room (believed to be the first of its kind in Western Canada), absence of stage and a 97 foot long lobby which highlighted works by local artists. A. W. Shackleford, president of Lethbridge Theatres, and his long time secretary Florence Crofts, were presented with silver plaques in honor of their more than 40 year association with the operation. A special opening ceremony, attended by about 450 invitees, guests included Famous Players executives from Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto plus the craftsmen, and their families, who worked on the construction of the theatre.
